"And we know that in all things

God works for the good of those who love him,

who have been called according to his purpose."

Romans 8:28 [NIV]

 Don't just believe it,

LIVE LIKE IT!

Something that I have come to realise is that we all have a purpose. Some people don’t find their purpose until they are 50, 60, 70 and so on and some people never find it. When you ask God into your life you are asking him to take control of your purpose. You are asking him to take control.  Your purpose is normally something that you are passionate about. In the church this could be youth work or worship or teaching.  All of these things are important, but if you are not patient about it then how can you succeed in that area.  When God has control of your purpose you need to have faith that it will all turn out ok. You have to take a leap of faith and say “God I trust you.” God can do ALL things, and through him so can we. We can change the world with just one small act of kindness at a time. When you do one nice thing for someone it can show God’s light even when you don’t think it can. You can bring someone to God, or change their opinion of Christianity in the way you act towards them. God has a job for us.  Are you going to take it?

Jesus and the Last Supper - Matt  26:26-30

As they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread and asked God’s blessing on it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying,

“Take it and eat it, for this is my body.” And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which seals the covenant* between God and his people. It is poured out to forgive the sins of many.  Mark my words—I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”

Matt 26:26-30 [NLT]

We know it as the Last Supper.  Jesus met with his disciples and put a whole new meaning on two parts of the Passover meal.  The bread—His body and the cup of wine as His blood.   As the disciples witnessed the cross this meal became even more meaningful.  Jesus gave instructions to take and eat… Paul echoes the instructions with a ‘do this till he comes’.   The early church made it part of their gatherings.  And churches all around the world continue  to join in this remembrance meal week in, week out.

What it represents changed our lives! Joining together as church to join in communion is not about tradition, it helps keep what Jesus has done central in our lives.  It can be easy for our lives to drift when we don’t put things in place to keep us on track.  God’s word and communion do the work of a compass keeping us walking straight for the whole of our lives.

Don’t miss the opportunity to set your focus straight, join us 10:30am every Sunday to focus and celebrate all that Jesus has done for us.

Please continue to pray for everyone who is sitting or revising for exams at the moment, as it can be a very stressful time.

Over 140 years ago one man’s spirit of adventure took him to India. There the future course of his life was cemented as he saw the appalling living conditions and the social isolation of people with leprosy. Wellesley Bailey felt that if there was ever a Christ-like work in the world it was to go amongst these poor sufferers and bring them the consolation of the Gospel. His compassion and action birthed The Leprosy Mission (TLM) which is an organisation that continues to raise awareness of leprosy and to bring hope and healing to leprosy affected people. Leprosy is a mildly infectious disease associated with poverty. Despite there being a cure, it remains one of the world’s most stigmatising diseases, commonly resulting in individuals being robbed of their education, career and marriage prospects. Those affected by leprosy are often rejected by their family and friends and pushed to the fringes of society, leading many to beg as their only hope of survival.

REMEMBER TO PRAY FOR OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS AROUND THE WORLD

Please pray for:

1. Pray that the new Danish- Bangladesh Leprosy Hospital will provide a centre of excellence to the 4000 new people diagnosed with leprosy each year.

2. Pray for wisdom and insight for those who are seeking the  prevention of the disease.

3. Pray for skill and sympathy to those who minister to the patients.

4. Pray that TLM may never lack either the staff or the means to carry on its healing work.
