"I
will build my church
and the gates of hell
shall not overcome
it "
Matt
16:18 [NIV]
Don't
just believe it,
LIVE
LIKE IT!
This song has been
playing over and over in my mind since Spring Harvest.
'Build your Kingdom
here'.
Jesus said "I will
build my church".
It's a promise and he
wants to do it in you and me, through you and me,
in your life and my
life and in Lifewell Church as a whole!
But how much do we want
Him to?
Do we want it enough
to:-
Pick up our Bibles and
ask God to speak to us and then wait and listen?
Pray for the people
around us?
Make God, and His
people and His plan a priority?
Play our part in local
church?
Let's do this!
Come along to the AGM and continue the
journey!!!
Jesus warns the religious
leaders - part 5 - Matthew 23:1-36
How terrible it will be
for you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you
won*t let others enter the Kingdom of Heaven, and you won*t go in
yourselves... ...For you cross land and sea to make one convert, and
then you turn him into twice the son of hell as you yourselves
are.
Matthew 23:13-15.
[NIV]
None of us like it when we
see people say one thing and do another and I'm sure we've all heard some people
say they have been put off church because in their eyes its 'full of
hypocrites'. How we live is important. Jesus is challenging people
here to think about the way they are living. Notice how he doesn't beat
around the bush. The consequences are serious! They will not enter
the Kingdom of Heaven and neither will any people who follow their
teaching. Jesus wants them to get it and respond. Can you imagine what
these people felt as Jesus challenged them in this way.
Embarassed? Shocked?
Because lets face it its easy to get to where they were. It's easy to
start doing the right things for the right reasons and over time, slip into bad
habits. You start a new job and you want to make a good impression, you
give 110% and a couple of months/years in and the shine has worn
off. If your employer gets 90% out of you its a good day and your only
drive is the count down to pay day.
I wonder if these people
started responding to God and then got so tied up in keeping the laws and
keeping an eye on other people keeping the law that they lost something of the
love for God and people that we are all called to.
Maybe in some areas of our
lives, as we heard of God and His love for us, about Jesus death and resurection
and what He accomplished for us, we were set on living to love God and love
others and share His love with others. But the challenges of life,
disappointments, being taken for granted and walked over as you live to love
takes the shine off things and we just want to get by, doing the bare minimum or
just keeping the rules. Loving God and loving others gets lost in the mix or
maybe just dropped down the priority list. I'm sure none of us want to be
called hypocrites or be on the receiving end of these words! So let's keep
a close eye on our lives! Lets keep love, excellence and integrity at the top of
the agenda!
For over 60 years MAF has been overcoming
the enormous barriers facing the remote
communities of the world. What started off as a dream of a couple of Christian
airforce pilots is now a global movement with 130 aircraft in more than 30
countries using more than 3000 airstrips. That*s more than any other airline in
the world. Many of the people MAF reaches simply survive one day at a time. By
delivering hope MAF show these precious people that they are not forgotten and
gives them a glipse of the living God we serve. Partnering with about 1500
organisations their aircraft fly into 1800 remote destinations to land on basic
landing strips, very different to our UK airports. Each flight carries help
& hope to men, women and children. *MAF is flying for life*. For more
information please view their new website www.maf-uk.org
PLEASE PRAY FOR :-
1. Pray for
peace in Bangladesh and for the
protection of MAF planes,
pilots and staff working around the world in some of
the world*s poorest nations.
2 Give thanks for MAF*s
shuttle flight service to isolated coastal islands of Bangladesh.
3 Pray that the need for
an experienced Chief Engineer for their Bangladesh programme,
along with a float-plane
pilot will soon be met.
4 Pray for more
volunteers and ongoing funding for MAF
to continue with its life
saving and changing work.
If you would like to give to Missions just place
